I imagine John Blank as the trumpeter at work with his colleagues as presented on the tapestry. Outside the frame, he is also a son, brother, and father living an everyday life of the period with his family and friends not far from the Thames. The tapestry is a contemporary photograph of the time, where the greater part of life with its dramas goes on well outside the frame.
