I imagine John Blanke to have been a deeply talented but troubled man. He would have been a man of great character to have lived and done what he did in that  time . I also expect he would have been a very brave man as he probably would have seen first hand people who look like him being tortured and killed. I expect he would have been very conflicted with who he was and the life he lived in England. He is definitely a man I would like to ask many questions about who he was and how he came to be a trumpeter in England and who he left behind. He is a man I was  happy to make a contemporary recreation of, because unfolding bits of black history is very interesting and important  to me.​​
