John Blanke: Ammunition for the Fight Against a Prejudiced Version of the PastJohn Blanke is a legend whose legacy inspires us today. The image alone has been enough to invert embedded stereotypes and explode imaginations. Whether he came from the 16th century Moorish civilisations of Spain or one of the ancient West African nation states, his presence gives us ammunition for the fight against a prejudiced version of the past. This image has been a bedrock resource on our 15 walks and numerous presentations delivered over the last 20 years. The image never fails to generate astonishment, interest, serious debate and a re-consideration of the status quo.
